A brand new event, delivered by the Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Business Improvement District (BID), is set to transform Hanley Piccadilly into a ‘Spooktacular’ spot of eerie entertainment and terrifying thrills suitable for the whole family this Halloween – all for free!

The evening of Thursday 31st October will see Piccadilly come to life with creepy characters roaming the area from Contortionists and Bubbleologists to Jugglers and Stilt-walkers. Plus there will be an impressive Fire Show, sure to stoke your excitement!

Ten treat stations will line the street outside the likes of RAWR Kitchen + Bar, The Corner, Unicorn Inn and XP-VR where the little ones can fill their boots with candy for free.

A live music stage will host live music brought to you by talented, local musicians to BOO-gie down to, featuring local rock covers band Adrenalize and the amazing singer songwriter Samantha Lloyd.

There will be frightful fun and ghoulish games in abundance for little devils of all ages with apple-bobbing, cookie decorating and pumpkin decorating.

The Piccadilly Spooktacular takes place from 4:30pm until 8:30pm and everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the event.

BID Manager Richard Buxton hopes this new event will bring a new audience into the evolving Piccadilly area and believes it is a step in the right direction to the city centre becoming an attractive and engaging destination for families.

“We’re really excited to be bringing something new and different to the city centre this Halloween. Piccadilly is such a great place with new venues opening up frequently, and it lends itself to being a fantastic location for events. A lot of local people haven’t ventured here in some years so we hope that events like this will encourage people to come out and explore their city centre a bit more.”

Josef Bailey, owner of The Quarter, is looking forward to Piccadilly Spooktacular:

“We’re excited to host a cookie decorating workshop in our Garden Room as part of Piccadilly Spooktacular and look forward to welcoming families to our venue and to the street as part of the Halloween celebrations.”

Antony Turner who owns The Corner is also backing the event:

“Anything that brings people into the city centre is great news and so we’re delighted to be getting involved with the Piccadilly Spooktacular. We’ll have a treat station directly outside of The Corner, plus, to continue the Halloween theme and to give you another day’s wear of your fancy dress, we’ll be hosting a Day of the Dead evening the following Saturday with a fully homemade Mexican menu and a prize for the best costume.”

In addition, children will be able to partake in the City Centre Pumpkin Trail to win tasty goodies. Pick up a trail map from Mix It Sweet Stall in Hanley Indoor Market from Saturday 26th October, or from an Ambassador on the evening of the Piccadilly Spooktacular. Follow the instructions to find 10 pumpkin decals displayed in the windows of city centre businesses and then return the completed map to Mix It Sweet Stall to claim a prize!

And city centre businesses will be getting involved in the Halloween fun too by decorating pumpkins that have been provided by Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID and displaying them in their establishments. The public will be able to head to the Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID’s Facebook page on Halloween until November 2nd to vote for their favourite and be in with the chance of winning a special prize!

People are encouraged to visit the Stoke-on-Trent BID’s Facebook page (/stokeontrentcitycentrebid) or Twitter page (@stokeontrentbid) for the latest updates relating to the Piccadilly Spooktacular and other initiatives.
