intu Potteries is delighted to open a new facility for families to spend time and enjoy together. The games room and musical wall are located in the lower mall, filled with a giant boat, games, colouring tables, chalk wall, colouring wall and seating area for parents to relax whilst watching their children let off a bit of steam.

The musical wall is an interactive window where children and adults alike can place their hand on the window at designated spots and the related instrument will play music. If the family place their hands on all the instruments at the same time then it will be as if a band were playing.

The games room is inclusive for all ages with age suitable areas and aims to engage families to spend quality time together. It’s free to use and is open throughout the shopping centre opening hours. Whether families have got 5 minutes to grab in-between shopping for school shoes or an entire afternoon to spend time together, intu will make this experience more enjoyable.

Families can also sign up online at intu.co.uk/potteries or at the customer services desk to the intu family club and receive a membership pack with a free gift, store and restaurant discounts and more gifts throughout the year.

From a recent research study it found that 73% of parents said they would like to have more time to ‘chill out’ with their children and children want to spend more quality time with their parents, adults felt guilty about the lack of fun time they spend as a family.

It also found that people prefer activities to be in one enclosed location rather than split across the centre due to the “embarrassment factor” and that they are more likely to take part if the activities are all in one place.

Rachael Jackson general manager at intu Potteries said “We recognise that intu Potteries is a place to spend time with friends and family. We want to take the stress out of shopping by keeping kids entertained and getting them away from crowds. It allows parents and children of all ages to spend quality time together.”
