The new owner of a fashion chain has revealed one of its Stoke-on-Trent stores is to remain open.

The future of Bonmarche had been plunged into uncertainty when the business fell into administration last October.

But it has been saved by The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group which is retaining 265 Bonmarche branches across the UK.

It means the Hanley branch, on Stafford Street, has been saved from closure. It has saved eight jobs.

Store manager Jo Wright said: "We are thrilled with the news that we are remaining open. We would like to say a special thanks to all our customers for their support and messages of encouragement.”

Bonmarche also has stores in Longton, Leek and Crewe.

A Bonmarche spokesman said: “We would like to extend a big thank you to The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group for acquiring the business and saving so many jobs.

"We are very excited about our future and entering a new chapter as part The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group.”
