To celebrate Father’s Day, The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery has created a new section on their Family Home Learning website dedicated to all Dad’s and Grandads.

Children can create a ‘Superhero Dad’ badge and discover some outside fun activities to do on the day with Dad including making a small garden pond from recycled materials and resources for going pond dipping or on a bug hunt.

As restaurants remain closed, why not make him a special ‘Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea’ with a Staffordshire flavour. You can find ideas for this special culinary treat on their website including Arnold Bennet omelette, Clay Suzettes (Oatcakes) and Staffordshire Yeoman Pudding.

Take a trip down memory lane as you explore what would have made the perfect Father’s Day presents from the 50s to the 00s. Discover a selection of retro objects including the Sinclair ZX Spectrum home computer from the 80s and a Red Ford Torino Corgi car from the hit TV drama Starsky and Hutch.

The page also contain two blogs on objects from the museum’s collections honouring the special relationship between father’s and their children. These include an embroidered silk postcard sent from a soldier serving in France during the First World War to his father in Longton and what would have been the ultimate Father’s Day gift in Victorian Times.
