It’s really important that we all spend as much time as possible at home to keep ourselves and others safe during the COVID pandemic. However, there's no getting past the fact that it can get a little ... boring. But not to fear as there are lots of fun things that you can do within your four walls to keep you busy, boost your morale and have a positive impact on your mental health.

Stay tuned for a weekly update from us detailing three new activities for you to enjoy during lockdown and if you have any ideas of your own would love to hear them. Send them to us at hello@stokeontrentbid.co.uk.

Puzzle out a jigsaw

Jigsaw puzzles were first invented in 1700’s and they’ve stood the test of time as they remain a popular form of entertainment today. Keep that mind active and challenge yourself with a 1,000 piece jigsaw, or relax and enjoy a smaller one. Check out The Works, Waterstones, or WH Smith which both stock a number of board games and offer delivery.

Let your home bloom

House plants are the perfect companion. They are our link with nature during lockdown and they enrich our domestic lives in ways we don’t even often acknowledge. Research has shown that having plants around you boosts productivity and reduces stress - just the boost which may be needed for your home office. Caring for your plants and nurturing them is nice form of relaxation – but there’s many out there that require very little looking after and can look beautiful all year-round. Check out the best houseplants to buy in winter here. Have a browse around Wilko during your next essential shop and pick up a plant pot or five!

Plan for the future

Why not have a little browse of all the planned events in the city centre – and look forward to getting on with life as we progress through the year. From music events to suit every taste at The Sugarmill and The Underground, to performances, musicals and stand-up at Mitchell Arts Centre, Victoria Hall and The Regent Theatre, there’s loads of entertainment in the pipeline for when COVID is no longer a threat. You can book your tickets now and be rest assured that you will receive a refund or tickets will be transferable for a later date should it transpire that events are not able to go ahead, or simply check back at the venue’s booking sites at a later date.
