A city centre restaurant has been named as one of the best burger joints in the UK - despite not selling them.

The Slamwich Club, on Piccadilly, Hanley, has been named in the top 30 burger places according to StagWeb.

The website's latest annual ranking saw burger joints judged to see if they could make the popular list.

Each restaurant was judged on various factors, such as the range on offer, the venue, value for money, and the overall experience.

And despite selling sandwiches - not burgers - The Slamwich Club clearly impressed StagWeb as they decided to include them in the top 30 for their sandwiches' likeness to 'a dirty burger'.

The Slamwich Club's listing read: "OK, guilty, these aren’t burgers, but they also aren’t sandwiches, these are Slamwiches and they were such a life-changing discovery we’ve shoehorned them into our Top 30 Best 'Burgers' list.

"Whilst they have a sandwich exterior, the innards are more akin to the dirty burgers that we know and love, and you simply haven’t lived until you’ve tried one for yourselves!"

The Slamwich Club is a popular eatery specialising in gourmet sandwiches.

It offers a range of exciting fillings and delicious sides.
