The team behind the formerly named Piccadilly Artisan Market and Keep it Local, a collective of individuals seeking to support the local economy and help bring independent traders back to the high street, are about the celebrate the opening of a pop-up shop in the Potteries Shopping Centre in Hanley.

Open from Monday 7th to Sunday 13th November, the group has invited 20 independent local artisans from the newly renamed Potteries Artisan Market to showcase their handcrafted products and artwork for sale just in time for the festive season.

Situated on the 2nd level of the Potteries Shopping Centre, the temporary pop-up shop gives shoppers the opportunity to browse and discover gifts, homewares, ceramics, art, personal care products and more from traders including Scruffy Little Herbert, Abi Through the Ears and Shin Yu Studio.

With many of the traders from the popular monthly Potteries Artisan Market accepting the invitation to take up retail space at the pop-up shop, both Castle Artisan Events organisers and the Keep It Local team have emphasised their commitment to bringing local independent traders back into the town centre and hope that visitors to Hanley will drop by to show their support for the talented artisans that live in the area.

Jake Burgess from Castle Artisan Events, who organise the Potteries Artisan Market and co-host, said, “Bringing local, independent traders back to our town centre is our reason for setting up the Potteries Artisan Market, so having the opportunity to open a pop-up shop is just one more way that we hope to encourage shoppers to shop local and discover the incredible range of local creative talents.”

Andy Nixon from Keep It Local also expressed their excitement at the upcoming pop-up shop, saying “Bringing talented local traders together in heart of Stoke-on-Trent is a great way of celebrating and promoting the artisan community that lives in the area, so we really hope shoppers will get behind the pop-up shop and head to the Potteries Shopping Centre.

“Not only will shopping local help boost our economy, but it will also help support the thriving creative community in our area.”
