Tracey Barker, our City Centre Boots Manager has joined the Board of Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID.

In the bustling world of health and beauty, where excellence is paramount, our local Boots store has emerged as a shining example of dedication, service and quality. The recent announcement of Boots Hanley as the regional runner-up in the prestigious Boots Best of the Best Awards is a testament to the unwavering commitment of this store and pharmacy to provide exceptional care and services to its community. We sat down with Store Manager, Tracey Barker, to discuss what this sparkling recognition means to the store.

“Winning 1st runner-up in these awards was like winning to us” Tracey beams. “Our Hanley store has never been shortlisted before, so the fact that we have been recognised for our hard work amongst 220 other stores in our region, is a testament to all the work our team does.”

Judged by the Boots Area Management team, the Best of the Best Awards recognises achievements from multiple areas of the business in a mystery shop format. Feedback accumulating to Boots’ nomination in the awards features brilliant leadership, high visual standards and community spirit.

“The nomination was really welcomed, and listed all of the different areas that we excel in. It’s been a great morale booster for the team. The feedback from the Regional Management team highlighted the fact that we’ve been through real challenges and big changes as a store, but have still resulted in providing brilliant shopping experiences for our customers and patients.”

Boots Hanley also caters for local care homes alongside its pharmacy and multi-level retail store. The quality of all these areas, amongst an impressive uplift of 12% year on year, have contributed positively.

“One of the best parts of the nomination feedback was about my shop floor team, who are all so personable and hardworking. Our stockroom was also impressed with its cleanliness and organisation ready for this year’s Christmas palettes.”

Whilst the team missed out by a fraction on scooping the Regional Store of the Year award, there’s clear pride and genuine passion demonstrated by the team of Boots Hanley. Recently, the team took part in the BID Business Costume Contest for Halloween, in which they were awarded 3rd place for their commitment and effort, despite needing to abide by cleanliness and health & safety regulations with their costumes.

“The team loved getting involved with the costume contest! The whole day gave our customers a smile and a chuckle, and it was brilliant to see the wider Halloween event take place outside our store as well. The contest made us really feel a part of the event and we achieved a lot of visitors that day. We really support the BID’s efforts to bring the city centre to life and bring fantastic footfall.”
