With the big day looming, we thought we’d put together a handy little guide on how to treat your Valentine in Stoke-on-Trent City Centre…

For the shop-aholics

With intu Potteries, the city’s largest shopping centre boasting over 90 stores including the likes of Pandora, Debenhams, Next, Primark and H&M AND a plethora of small businesses selling from quirky clothing and accessories to artisan gifts, the City Centre is the perfect items place to treat your partner to a shopping spree. Check out the full list of retailers here.

Or why not show them how much you love them with an intu Potteries gift card for them to spend at their own leisure?

For foodies

Piccadilly in the Cultural Quarter is home to newcomer restaurant and bar Bloom, a beautiful place to treat your Valentine to a special 3-course meal with prosecco, all the while being entertained by the wonderful local singer, Samantha Lloyd.

Portofino, a stunning Italian restaurant will be serving up a special Valentine's Day menu with plenty of mouth-watering, authentic dishes to sample.

Alternatively, you can 'eat, drink and spoil a loved one' at The Quarter: Treat that special someone to a sumptuous meal accompanied by live music from Luke Gessner.

Take a look at the full list of food and drink venues in the City Centre here.

For culture vultures

The local theatres - Regent Theatre, Victoria Hall and Mitchell Arts Centre - have extensive line ups spanning stand-up comedy, music concerts, smash-hit West-End shows, musicals, operas and more. Here’s just a few examples coming up in February…

LOL Comedy Club at Regent Theatre on 15th February

Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story at Regent Theatre from 18th February

National Theatre Live Screening: Cyrano de Bergerac at Mitchell Arts Centre on 20th February

Milton Jones in Milton: Impossible at Victoria Hall on 21st February

For those who love bling

Who doesn’t love something shiny! For the special guy or gal in your life, why not splash out on a trinket from one of the many jewellers in the city centre. Goodwins Jewellers, CJ Skelthorne, and H Samuel are just a few examples but you can see the full list here.

For the thrill-seekers

For something a little less traditional, try teaming up and seeing if you make it out of an escape room. Escape Stoke offers 6 themed rooms including Witchcraft & Wizardry, Area 51, The Da Vinci Code, Taken, Casino Heist and Escape the Seven Seas whilst Paralysis is ‘your worst nightmare’ and offers a unique experience of “being trapped inside the scariest movie scene.”

Thrill seeking couples should pay a visit to XP-VR and leave reality of one of their hundreds of games, including a racing simulator and a flying simulator.

For lovers of tradition

You can’t beat tradition, right? Why not skip down to the market stall located on Upper Market Square to pick up a beautiful bouquet of flowers for your lover? Just follow that gorgeous floral aroma!

For music lovers

With loads of music venues dotted around the city centre including the 400-capacity The Sugarmill, there’s indie gigs, DJ sessions and acoustic performances to suit every taste. Check out our what’s on listings to find the perfect event here.

For the beer and gin enthusiasts

For a beverage that’s sure to hit the spot for any beer or cocktail connoisseur, served up by experts in the field, check out Bottlecraft or Bar 41 on Piccadilly.
