With the big day looming, we thought we’d put together a handy little guide on how to treat your Valentine whilst supporting Stoke-on-Trent City Centre businesses…

For the fashion forward

Whilst under normal circumstances, we’d usually recommend a trip to The Potteries Centre, the city’s largest shopping centre boasting over 90 stores including the likes of Pandora, Next, Primark and H&M and a plethora of small businesses selling from quirky clothing and accessories to artisan gifts, it is currently closed due to lockdown.

However, you can still make purchases online on your favourite stores’ websites and get items delivered to your door. Check out the full list of retailers here.

For foodies

Piccadilly in the Cultural Quarter is home to a number of gorgeous restaurants, many of which are offering special Valentines Day menus for collection and delivery including The Quarter, Klay PizzeriaNØRTH Kitchen + Bar, and Zest Bistro.

Other city centre faves like The Slamwich Club, The Corner, Portofino, Roberto’s Pizza House, The Burger Priest and Chiquito are operating extensive and delicious takeout menus crammed full of sumptuous dishes from Italian to Mexican to All-American for you to enjoy in the comfort of your own home.

Take a look at the full list of food and drink venues in the City Centre here.

For culture vultures

The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery is selling a range of cards and heritage-focussed gifts for the one you love via their website this Valentines Day – and it’s 20% off everything until 14 February!

There’s Moorland Pottery mugs and coasters for brew enthusiasts, Staffordshire Hoard inspired jewellery and cards for ‘Oatcake-lovers’. Check out the range here. To order using their postal delivery service please call 01782 232323 or email pmagshop@stoke.gov.uk

For those who love bling

Who doesn’t love something shiny! For the special guy or gal in your life, why not splash out on a trinket from one of the many jewellers in the city centre. Goodwins Jewellers, CJ Skelthorne, and H Samuel are just a few examples where you can make purchases online or over the phone, but you can see the full list here.

For the thrill-seekers

Thrill seeking couples should pay a visit to XP-VR once lcokdown is lifted and leave reality of one of their hundreds of games, including a racing simulator and a flying simulator. You can grab a gift voucher on their website here or if you just can’t wait, you can hire a VR headset for use in your own home. Loaded with popular virtual reality games, their standalone Oculus Quest (v1.0) headsets are ready to put on and play - without the need of a computer. The perfect safe, hygienic and FUN activity to do at home.

For lovers of tradition

You can’t beat tradition, right? Why not skip down to the market stall located on Upper Market Square to pick up a beautiful bouquet of flowers for your lover? Just follow that gorgeous floral aroma!

For music lovers

With loads of music venues dotted around the city centre including the 400-capacity The Sugarmill, The Underground and Victoria Hall, there’s indie gigs, DJ sessions and acoustic performances to suit every taste scheduled for when lockdown is lifted (fingers crossed!). Check out their listings to find the perfect event.

For the beer enthusiasts

For a beverage that’s sure to hit the spot for any beer connoisseur, visit off-license Bottlecraft on Piccadilly to pick up a tipple - or even better, visit their online store and order for delivery.
